This joint ARM® and Open-Silicon webinar, moderated by Daniel Nenni of SemiWiki, explored the role of custom SoCs in facilitating the development of highly differentiated IoT-based products. Those joining the webinar learned about the design advantages of custom SoCs and the flexibility they offer for unique customization and market differentiation. Attendees also learned about economic advantages, and why development costs are significantly less compared to those of more sophisticated high-compute node chips, even at much lower volumes. The webinar addressed typical IoT devices, IP and platforms that are currently available to developers. It also explored the benefits of using turnkey ASIC development companies to design and manufacture custom SoCs, and how this option reduces risk, lowers cost and speeds time to market.
