This joint SK-Hynix, Synopsys and Open-Silicon webinar, moderated by Herb Reiter of eda 2 asic Consulting, addressed the ecosystem for next-generation HBM ASICs for density- and bandwidth-hungry systems. Those joining the webinar learned about HBM Gen2 memory from SK Hynix, IP subsystem solution (Controller, PHY and die-to-die I/O) from Open-Silicon, and verification IP from Synopsys. Attendees also learned about the system integration aspects of 2.5D HBM ASIC SiP (System in a Package), and performance results of various memory access patterns suiting different application domains. The webinar will also highlight how system and ASSP companies can minimize the risk by using an HBM IP subsystem for HBM ASICs in networking, HPC and video applications.

After more than 20 years in technical and business roles at semiconductor and EDA companies, Herb founded eda 2 asic Consulting in 2002 to focus on increasing the cooperation between EDA suppliers and ASIC vendors. In this role, Herb introduced innovative IC design tools to major semiconductor vendors worldwide and expanded his horizon to include interposers and 3D-ICs technology, semiconductor materials and manufacturing, metrology and test equipment.

In his consulting role with the newly formed Electronic System Design Alliance (formerly known as EDAC) Herb drives their new System Scaling Working Group and a new edition of their Multi-die IC Design Guide. Herb is also contributing to the ESD Alliance’ focus to address important industry challenges together with ESD Alliance members from the IC Design community and IC Manufacturing companies, including their materials and equipment suppliers. Herb is also a frequent blogger, and has his own column (3D In Context) on the 3D InCites website.

Nayoung serves as Senior Manager, Technical Marketing for SK Hynix, where she is in charge of executing efficient product bring-up, implementing improvements to memory test procedures, and interfacing with internal cross functional teams, customers and suppliers. She has over nine years of hardware engineering experience in high performance computer/mobile systems, and significant experience in marketing and customer support.

Nasib Naser

Nasib is a Senior Staff Corporate Applications Engineer in the Verification Group for Synopsys, lnc. He has extensive experience in system-on-chip (SoC) design and verification, embedded systems design, and computer architecture. Nasib spent more than 15 years in EDA where he led many customers’ design and verification projects using SystemC and later SystemVerilog. Currently, Nasib leads and manages customer’s memory VIP engagements in North America. Overall, Nasib has over 30 years of experience as a technical applications engineer. In addition to Synopsys, he has previously worked at NASA/Ames, Varian, and CoWare.
